- it's very very tough and demanding, i have no idea how those students without prior geomatics background would cope with this programme.

- Workloads are massive, with short deadlines.

- majority of Students have prior work experience, hence they are very knowledgeable ,the advantage is clearly demonstrated.

- 2nd term would be even tougher.

- Regardless, the job prospect should be good.

‘Couple culture’ / ‘Boyfriend Girlfriend relationships’ / ‘ Courtship’

Blogging has never been one of the top priorities, hence the hard-to-come update. This post is especially written for the sake of sharing an article which addresses one of the fundamental issues from Islamic perspective, the ‘Couple culture’ / ‘Boyfriend Girlfriend relationships’ / ‘ Courtship’.

The aforementioned article has clearly and vividly enlightened me about the Islam stance towards this particular issue which gravely and adversely affecting so-called modern muslim society (the youths in particular). Unwittingly ( I think ’Ignorantly’ would be more apt in this context) these impressionable youths let their ‘desire’ and ‘lust’ get the better of themselves and leaving them disorientated and intoxicated with their own false sense of happiness, hence drawing them closer to god’s wrath.

All this while I have come across with a multitude of so-called couples, some of them are truly lax towards Islamic guidelines regarding this matter let alone ‘keeping the intention of marriage at the forefront of their relationship’, some are seemed to be reserved (at least, from their own false definition of ‘being reserved’:P) and only a very small number of them might truly comply the guidelines ( these couples end up married ).

It is actually quite hilarious when thinking back of those couples. Some of them have been anxiously practicing anything that have perceived or deemed acceptable (bak kata orang melayu ‘ohhh sooo sweettttttt!! LOL) as promoted by western ‘Show business’(entertainment industry)-

eg. uttering so-called romantic phrases ( eg. I wanna kiss/hug/tickle/massage/caress you ??!!-contoh sahaja-) which excite their desires /lusts towards each other regardless of their mediums of communication. Some are sidetracked to the extent of staying up late at night for the sake of bonding session@’bergayut’ for hours and shamefully miss the subuh prayer in the morning (So much for ‘true happiness’). Others are happily and proudly showing pictures of them posing in such close proximity/with inappropriate physical contact on social networking sites (FB,myspace,Friendster,blog- you name it).

With all the temptations barging towards us from every corner, life is surely tough and challenging, truthfully only those who are wise enough would succeed (setiap manusia bernafsu , tetapi nafsu boleh dikawal dengan akal dan didikan agama yang betul) .

The latest development of anwar ibrahim's saga has given an important insight to the curious public.

An insight which is horrendously undesirable to the so called a god-sent leader's fanatic loyalists or sympathisers.

DSAI as a top-class spin doctor/conman, for many years, has managed to delude the ordinary people into believing that all the charges or allegations against him are concocted by ruling government as an attempt to assassinate his political career.

After all the truth will finally prevail - his supporters/loyalists will have to slowly learn to accept the upsetting truth. Furthermore it would be very interesting to see the reaction of these cynics towards these hard facts. PAS leadership continues to ridicule themselves with erratic, confused and downright hypocritical political cause. Latest PAS's political development of discarding their long pursuit of Islamic country establishment has come as no surprise , as part of their strategic plan to further gain political support from non-muslim.

Unsurprisingly, in an attempt to console their ever fanatic and self-righteous supporters, PAS finally claimed that islamic country establishment has never been mentioned or aligned with Quran teachings.

Religion has always been a strategic and potent political tool of PAS, this is substantiated by the fact that PAS has managed to stay afloat in Malaysia political scene since its establishment in 1956 by manipulating religion indiscriminately. Fanaticism of their supporters towards the leadership has been the key factor of PAS survival.

PAS is generally a weak and clueless political party when it comes to the challenge of striking the balance between moderate spiritual and physical developments, particularly in a large scale administration environment. Just take Kelantan as a prime example. How well Kelantan has evolved under Pas 21-year ruling ? Issues: job opportunities, poor public amenities, clean water supply, Ladang rakyat, Bazaar tokGuru , HIV transmission and last but not least the apparent incapability to fulfill their sugar-coated election manifestos. The champion of giving out empty worthless promises, a typical characteristic associated with Pakatan Rakyat.

Besides, they could be the champion in cheap 'political ceramah' , champion of slandering! Their leaders, equipped with kopiah/skullcap and serban/sorban , sometimes with 'jubah' ,are seen noble and religious, could easily impress the gullible ordinary people. Every word uttered is sacred, at least for those fanatic/self righteous PAS supporters.

it has been a while since the last post which was back in November 2009. LOL. !! it takes 8 months later for a new post to come out of hiding. I could delay this redundant new post but since i have been blessed with tonnes of time to kill , it seems that this is the prime time to write something just for the sake of writing. :)
here are some facts worth pointing out !! haha.

1. Currently in Malaysia enjoying its unique heat and humidity. It has always been good to be back in beloved homeland. My statement is undoubtedly in accord with a saying “hujan emas di negeri orang, lebih baik hujan batu di negeri sendiri” .

2. Successfully completed Level 2 in BSc Hons Surveying and Mapping Sciences. A new challenge in form of Level 3 awaits surely Should step up the effort for this!!
Level 2 has been great, it was tough but managed to squeeze through smoothly. Thanks god!

3. Final exams results are fine. They were released on 7th of July 2010, the same day i was flying to Bali for summer fulfilment. Afraid if the results could inflict unnecessary frustration or sorrow which eventually could spoil the whole long- anticipated vacation experience, i decided not to check the results on the very same day (Damage control activated :P).
Came back in KL on 12th July and took a thorough gaze at the results. Ended up logging out UEL Direct site with an unpretentious smile curved on my face. Hope my friends are doing fine as well, Malaysians rule!

4. Bali trip was a great one. Definitely worth going.

5. Seafood in Umbai, Malacca was one the best gastronomic experiences i had since been back in Malaysia. Easily outshines the one I had in Bali, even though the setting in Bali was really pleasant and idyllic.

6. Currently learning to swim. Should acquire this very skill long time ago, preferably during the childhood. It’s never too late. Stop complaining.

The ‘Vote for Change’ slogan promoted by Pakatan Rakyat months ago really implies the undesirable and potentially detrimental change that is currently happening in this country. PR rise to power in 5 states after a set of empty promises made to the “Rakyat” however their performance leaves much to be desired. Such a sweet talker!!

Conflict is escalating amongst allies in fledgling Pakatan Rakyat and the current turmoil is already anticipated by many parties since PAS, DAP and PKR are all fundamentally different in term of their goals, objectives and even the overriding element, Ideology. The shameful collision of PAS , DAP and PKR fail miserably to justify the so-called ‘Pakatan Rakyat’ collision , but surely they never fail or stop to ridicule themselves with their antics which reflect the never ending misunderstanding, disorganization, disagreement and more importantly insinuating every words spoken are mere rhetoric .

Pakatan Rakyat is like a marriage of convenience which means no love or commitment involved but a particular mutual interest. In case of Pakatan Rakyat the mutual interest is none other than the POWER. Congratulations anyway to PR since they managed to deprive BN of power in 5 states. They got the power now but are shambolically struggling to tolerate with each other and ultimately fail to prove their worth. Bagaikan retak menanti belah ? mungkin… I might be wrong. Time will tell that is for sure.

Disunity among components of PR is not a new thing. A number of happenings have occurred to prove that ;

1. Perak: The DAP boycott of Perak Chief Minister swearing-in ceremony, since they were actually deserved to lead Perak not PAS who has least seats in the state. Since then the Chief Minister from PAS had no true power and became a mere puppet of DAP but not until the collapse of PR pact.

2. Penang: The PKR boycott of Majlis Perbandaran Seberang Perai President swearing-in ceremony in the state led by DAP.

3. DAP object any discussion being planned/made between PAS and UMNO.

4. Kedah : The DAP’s pullout from PAS-led state government as a response to PAS decision to demolish a pig slaughterhouse and impose 50% Bumiputra housing quota from current 30%.

5. Kedah : The DAP’s pullout in Kedah has been criticized by PKR’s man Zulkifli Nordin from Kulim Bandar Baru.

6. The resignation of Mohd Fairus, former Penang’s Deputy Chief Minister as assemblyman in Penanti due to internal rift in PR.

In some way, the result of PRU 12 which changes the political landscape of Malaysia would be very critical to all Malaysians since they could evaluate and judge how good both sides namely BN and PR perform and capable of translating promises to realities , not just worthless empty manifestos . Anyway since both governments are not perfect, all we need is just a REAL doer rather than a TALKER who is only a champion in “cheap ceramah”.

Yesterday I had a meningococcal vaccine injection at Klinik Rusli ( Dato Dr. Rusli) in Kota Bharu. Went there together with my parents. Meningococcal vaccine induces the production of antibody against meningitis (a life- threatening inflammation of meninges) hence gives you a proctection against it.

Price per injection: RM100

Before receiving the injection I had a brief conversation with the doctor who is I think in early sixties (must be vastly experienced). He is a graduate from New South Wales University,Sydney. He came to know that I quitted medicine (he was told by my father who had the injection shortly before me). Some of the conversations were as follow:

Doc: So I heard that u quitted medicine??(While he was trying to fill up his syringe with vaccine)
Me: Yes, I studied in moscow before. (Sitting on the chair while anticipating my arm to be poked with the fine and sharp needle)
Doc: So you quitted before or after entering clinical years?
Me : Before the clinical years
Doc: No regret? (With a smile)
Me: Yes, no regret. (In fact, I’m glad I did)(With a broad smile)

If I were right, that was the first time ever people asked me whether or not I regretted the decision which I made nearly 1 year ago. The most common question asked is none other than “Why you quitted?”.
There was one time a medical student questioned my decision to quit medicine because medicine is one of the most sought after courses amongst students and as a doctor you are highly regarded in the community. In some ways that student was right, but there are millions of different ways to be highly respected by people around you and to become a doctor is not the ultimate ticket to earn respects.

I have seen lots of people with different objectives or reasons of becoming doctor and whatever the reason or objective is, I hope we are all successful and do our part to contribute to the society.

Regret has never been an issue after withdrawing from medicine in Russia, in fact It was like the best decision I ever made, iA. Surely it was really serious and tough decision to consider but was made easy with the presence and input of highly experienced people beside.

The new chosen path opens doors to other opportunities and the best way to lead live is to stride forward to achieve realistic ambitions. Only the sky is the limit.

It has been a while since I wrote the last post. It seems that I have locked myself away from blogging, fortunately temporarily. Yeah I actually had been pretty much engrossed with other critical things that left this blog in the state of dormancy for awhile.

Currently, I am having and relishing a long spell of summer holiday in homeland until 25th of September which means I would be able to celebrate Eid with my family for the first time since 2005 ( if my memory serves me right). I flew back here via Emirates on 9th of June and safely reached KL on 10th of June. There were mix feelings of delight and anxiety during the home-coming journey from London to KL since it took place amid the outbreak of fatal infectious disease of Influenza A. I did hope that there was no infected victim travelling in the same flight with me, if not the worst could happen. Upon reaching KLIA everyone was screened for fever with thermal scanners and asked to fill up health form distributed by health officers. No one from my flight was suspected to be infected and It seemed that everything went pretty well.

Personally, the responsible authorities should be lauded for taking the necessary measures to contain the disease which originates from Mexico. In Malaysia the infection cases have speedily escalated to 35 cases and I could say it really strikes fear amongst Malaysians. Nothing much we could do to curb this disease apart from cooperating with the authorities in dealing this matter and praying to god so that we will be safeguarded from this illness.

Both parties BN and PR in trying to solicit support from non Malays have given lots of compromises to the non-Malays. Whether we are aware or not, these inflictive political compromises come at the expense of the Malays. It is about time when Malays come to realize that they are actually the losing side. The Malaysian Constitution is there to protect the Malays and natives of Sabah & Sarawak (Bumiputra) , however it is largely reliant on who is capable of realizing it.

Now it has been the 2nd week of the 2nd semester and the workloads are starting to pile up. Another 3 modules to be covered for this semester, which are: Mapping, Application of GIS and Geomatics & Construction. Last semester was fairly good and looking forward to maintain it in that way.

Perak

Malaysian political scene undergoes turmoil yet again. The incident that happened in Perak was quite startling because I was not expecting that. Maybe the ‘forced marriage’ of Pakatan Rakyat is currently having a rough ride through the patchy and winding road that they have constructed. The components of the collision just don’t gel, their ideological difference slowly cracking them. Maybe it is just another example of this saying: ‘Pride goes before a fall ’.

Anyway I’m hoping that Malaysia will thrive in current economic hard times.

Land Ownership

After more than 1 month without a post, I finally feel like writing again. Indeed time travels so fast. Like it or not we are now in February of 2009 ,approximately 4 months away from summer holidays. Looking forward to go back to Malaysia during upcoming summer holidays which will last for nearly 3 months. I have bought a return ticket London-KL a week ago at a quite attractive price (Emirates) if not jaw-dropping cheap.

A number of happenings have taken place recently and one of the noteworthy incidents was the endless conflict in Middle East, Israel’s assault on Palestinians in Gaza Strip. This political conflict inflicted a gruesome humanitarian catastrophe. The brutality of Israel was evident which caused the death of nearly 1300 Palestinians (most of them were civilians) and other casualties. They vowed to put a bitter end to Hamas and launched a blitz that lasted for days which then ensued by ground invasion. In modern warfare, air superiority plays a crucial role in dictating the course of the war. Massive aerial bombardment will inflict major damage to the enemy. Weakened enemy would struggle to resist any ensuing ground assault. Technologically, Hamas is no match to Israel. They have the will to fight but they are sorely lacking in term of weaponry system. Another significant thing was, Palestinians did not receive any military support from Arab nations during the war as a result they struggled to provide resistance to Israel army.

Some westerners believed Israel was right to launch such disproportionate attack on Gaza strip which was aimed at the terrorist organization as an action of self-defence. They voiced their opinions that any country in this world would do the same if they were attacked and Israel did that in response of Hamas rocket attacks. However they need to dig up the history of the conflict in order to get some insights. Most of the Jews in Israel today are not the origins of the land. They migrated to Palestine land from various parts of the world (Europe , US) and populated the land which is Israel today. Before, the land was populated by Palestinians but they were displaced from their own land after a series of migrations of Jews and other political disputes. The migration was part of the plan of Zionism political movement in establishing Jewish state. In conclusion Palestinians have been denied the rights as the rightful owner of the land. This is the real cause why they are fighting the Israel.

Christmas Break

My Christmas break has already commenced since last Thursday (18^th December 2008) and I still have 2 weeks worth of time before the Practical Exam. Most of the students go back to their homes during this break and now the campus is completely different as compared to a couple of weeks ago where students were bustling and hurrying around the campus. The campus has come to a state of inactivity; it is very quiet and uncannily deserted. I can barely see or stumble upon anyone around the campus. It seems only Malaysians are staying (and perhaps other international students).

Tomorrow is the most anticipated day for the locals, it is a Christmas day. Travellers like me who rely heavily on public transports could find it very difficult to move around London tomorrow because the entire public transportation system will come to a halt. It is highly likely that I am not going anywhere tomorrow. How I wish I have a private transport here..huurrmm. I could have been staying at my friend’s house in Zone 2 for 1 or 2 days if it is not because of I have things to sort out as soon as possible.

Even though UK is undergoing economic downturn, it is quite a surprise to see a lot of people throng the High Streets for last minute Christmas shopping. This scenario is fuelled by massive price slash on goods offered by various High Street retailers and VAT reduction imposed by the UK government in order to encourage consumer spending so that the economic activity would not suffer dreadfully. UK economy has worsened significantly lately which leads to burgeoning jobless local people and competing immigrants could well be the losing side when it comes to recruitment or employment as tighter restrictions will be imposed on them.

I wish a very lively and exuberant Happy Eid Ul Adha and Happy holidays to everyone particularly to my family who is basking in the warmth of equatorial heat right now ( not really though ,recently it has been raining cats and dogs in the Peninsular East Coast . It’s monsoon season!!) , on the contrary I am going through freezing winter season in a country that hit hard by Credit Crunch. However thanks to god the winter here is not as harsh as the one that I have encountered years ago. Good luck to both my younger sisters, hopefully they will attain great results for SPM and A-level. Enjoy your holidays.

Here outdoor activities remarkably reduced in parallel with winter season as compared to a few months ago. On the other end, winter signals the approaching Christmas day with almost every shop front heavily decorated with 'SALES' signboards that offer jaw-dropping prices which exert spending temptation to masses in order to rack up people’s hard-earned money as much as possible. However this situation does not pose any problem for ridiculously rich people like you, probably. Hopefully I won’t succumb to the temptation and keep my composure.

Within 2 weeks I will finish my 1^st term here which means deadline date for assignments is getting closer. Still got a couple of things to write up and looking forward to finish them off by this weekend. Back to work please!

A number of events have had past recently and the list will go on ; bailout plans in the US and UK , Malaysian Government takeover sickening rumour , Pak Lah’s decision not to retain the top post in UMNO etc…
The Handover......
Best wishes and thanks to Pak Lah for the good things he has done before. Surely it is not an arbitrary decision to give away the power .He deserved a salute for manly and willingly relinquishing the UMNO’s president post in hope to alleviate the restlessness within the UMNO , after months being bombarded by harsh criticisms from within and outside UMNO.

Malaysia’s political scene has hit rock bottom since the 8th March 2008 , chaotic and inflictive. Maybe this is the sea change of Malaysia’s politics that a lot of people itch for . People start to believe in rumours/gossips voiced by the certain people and belittle the truths . Rumours are preferable to truths by a large group of people probably because they sound miles more interesting and the negative mindset of the rebellious people themselves.

Yesterday

Yesterday was great . My friends and I had an open house at Uncle Tajri’s house . It was energy-consuming 1 hour worth of travel from East (Cyprus) to North (Golders Green ). Equipped with empty stomach, each and everyone of us was craving for Raya delicacies all the way to the open house which was held in conjunction of Eid Mubarak.

Upon the arrival , we were entertained by host’s eldest son as Uncle Tajri’s was too busy accommodating other guests that turned up at that time. Surely we revelled in this opportunity of enjoying endless list of Raya delicacies. The food were good and assuredly deserved some credit .

Futsal

After that, at night I went to Royal Oak to play futsal. It was the first time ever I played futsal after months being deprived of football/futsal. Playing in chilly and windy condition could be very tough let alone playing for 2 hours. I struggled a bit to keep pace with others due to short of fitness. Yes, partly because I had eaten a lot in the evening before , and lack of exercise lately. Maybe I need to invest some time in exercise after this.

Today

We went to Bonda Café’s open house in Paddington and MSD ‘s open house in Royal Oak. That was pretty much of it for today. It was just another chapter of eating session.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish my family and friends wherever they are a very blessed and lively Eid Mubarak . Eid Mubarak is indeed a very special occasion celebrated by Muslims however different people from various parts of the world would experience it differently.

This is my 4^th year of celebrating RAYA away from homeland or precisely away from family. Sorely miss the vibrant atmosphere where everyone showcases their new clothes and is dressed to kill . This experience is not unique to overseas students . I would be utterly happy if I can celebrate with my family but since most of us (especially overseas students ) are still shouldering commitment to study, therefore we have to make do with it.

Yesterday was the 1^st Syawal in UK ( Russia as well ), I got classes for that day and there was no way I could avoid those. How unlucky I was, if not I would have be able to perform Eid prayer with a couple of friends at Malaysian Hall. Yeah attending class at the expense of Raya Mood .

17th September 2008 , KL – London , MH 4 .

Salam to everyone . It has been a long time since I showed up here . I don’t know what kind of excuses to give to justify this temporary state of idleness . Alhamdullilah I safely arrived in London in the evening on 17th September 2008 . It was a memorable long journey for me because ,I was aware that this was the starting point of a new chapter of struggle , because life is a struggle. Lucky for me , my university provided free transportation from Heathrow Airport to the campus (Docklands Campus) for new international students coming from different parts of the world.

Adaptation is all what I need now. New place means new challenges await , iA I will make the best possible of my stay here . The main priority is to get the desired degree , so strive for it, because at the end of the day it is pointless if failed to do so after coming this far. Life here gets better after making a number of acquaintances especially from Malaysia. Grateful to god for bestowing me good friends here. Malaysians make up a very small percentage of the whole UEL’s population (maybe around 14 malaysians), because of that we tend to be closed to each other. Once you step onto UEL’s campus , the diversity of nationalities in UEL is really noticeable . Students are coming from all over the world . Greece, Germany, India , Lithuania , Japan ,Morocco , you name it . To get to know people from other countries is such a terrific experience and it is such a waste if I don’t . This is the high time for it.

A New Federal Government

Yes , some of us might have heard about this idea already…but how true is it?? Personally I think this is no more than a political aspiration of a man backed up by a foreign power which eager to stir our country stability. It is a mere political gimmick from a man ravenous for power and disregards the resultant outcome to this nation. He is willing to compromise the country’s political and economic stability to pursue his political ambitions.

The Plan

The plan is to topple the current federal government by securing the defection of at least 30 members from ruling party. Indeed there are mixed feelings arise like insecure and anxious among Malaysians who are well aware of the detrimental spillover of such undemocratic plan .It also applies pressures to other parties such as current federal government and investors . Current government is trying hard to convince the ‘rakyat’ that such plan will never be materialized (amin) and downright disrespectful of strong mandate given to the BN by ‘rakyat’ in the last general election. Besides, Investors could well be drawn away from Malaysia if it happens as it will inflict political chaos (Our economy could well in peril )as currently happening in our neighboring country . Shameful and Deleterious.

The Reality

Every government is not perfect .There are always bad apples in a bunch of people both in ruling party and oppositions .But I believe the current Malaysia’s government is still the best around, all they need to do are: keep up the good work and rectify their weaknesses. They have proven track record in steering this country forward. The oppositions ; Ideologically the oppositions are not parallel . When they come into power , there are burgeoning group of people(including the opposition chief) start questioning and despising the social contract , particularly Article 153 of the Constitution of Malaysia as agreed by previous leaders .It's worrisome but still not many people realize this reality . It is time to reflect my friends.

Alhamdullilah, finally I received my Dell Studio 15 laptop yesterday. Ordered on 25 of august 2008 , it took approximately 2 weeks to be delivered.And it took me weeks to decide on this purchase as i was considering a number of laptops like Dell XPS and ASUS .Yeah having too many choices can be bad sometimes. Many thanks to my father for this laptop, i consider it as a gift. This new system will replace my current one, Acer Travelmate 3212. It is a worthy upgrade as the aging Acer experiences a couple of issues like condemned battery , broken hard disk once , other occasional minor issues. It has been serving me for 3 years and surely not without a glitch, just like other laptops i think.Time has come for it to take a back seat. Nowadays laptop can be very cheap, you can get a better system for cheaper price as compared to a few years ago.Electronic Gadgets depreciate with time very fast so spend your money on them prudently.Maybe I'll do some simple review in near future regarding this laptop.

A Change for Good , Calculated risks worth taking.

It is about a week away for me before starting a new exciting adventure in a field that has been part of my family which really intrigues me . Opportunity knocks but once , with god’s will I hope this could be the best decision I ever made. After years of contemplation about switching course,I finally made the decision. I have learnt that switching course(or maybe changing career) is not unique , people have been doing so after they realize that they don’t have any passion and enthusiasm to get them going. Passion translates into Productivity, and Productivity translates into Success . The root of success is sheer passion in everything that you do. It fuels you forward to earn success in life.

The Mistake

My failure to inculcate interest in medicine is all down to my lack of insight into career in medical field.How I wish I knew a lot about career in medicine before i took it .I am really hoping , this decision could win me priceless future gains (Amin) . There are always pros and cons to take into account when making a particular decision . TO DO OR NOT TO?? When the pros overwhelmingly outweigh the cons , without any single doubt it could well be the best decision. Many thanks to my family for helping me to reach this decision. Decide it now or regret it later!!

The Dawn of New Hobby.

This is my first ever blog and i'm now typing the first post for this newly born blog. From now on, blogging will be my new hobby. I hope that i can capitalize something valuable from blogging, not just rambling around. This blog could be a platform for me to share my thoughts and opinions on a wide array of topics/issues be it social, technological , educational , political just to name a few.

Right now i'm on holidays until September after months being away from homeland. To be at home is undeniably such an overwhelming feeling for me. My dearest family is the one who has helped me through the tough times as the going gets tough. I'm grateful to god for being bestowed with supportive and understanding family. And others(you) should too.
